About Abide student camps
Abide Student Camps was created in 2024 by ministry leaders of ADOTS. This camp is created for middle and high school students to walk away with spiritual disciplines and truths that they can carry into their daily lives. Youth Groups (typically made up of 6th-12th grade) and church leaders who serve with youth are invited.
At Abide Student Camps, our hope is that we encourage students to know what it really means to abide in Jesus and grow in their identity in Christ.
In John 15, Jesus paints a beautiful image of our Father tending to us, nurturing us, and pruning us to bear more fruit. Jesus challenges his disciples to keep his commandments, abide in his love, and to lay down their lives for their friends. He goes on to say, “You are my friends if you do what I command you.”
Jesus calls us friends. Together, we can grow into that identity, learning just what it means to be a friend of Jesus.

details
We believe in the model of equipping church ministry leaders to care for their students while at Abide. We’ll provide the content and programming, small group material, and schedule, but it’s ultimately up to you and any adult leaders to disciple your students throughout the week. This means that every church planning to bring students should bring church leaders, too. We recommend a ratio of 1 adult for every 7 students.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided and included in the total camp cost. Students and leaders will be placed in small cabins and rooms throughout campus.
Each church is responsible for their own transportation to and from The Vision Camp. Check-in time on July 27 is 3-5 PM central. All programming will conclude on July 31 at 9:30 AM central.
TOTAL COST: $325 per attendee

theme
In Romans 8, St. Paul writes, “You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.”
Together, we will be exploring what it means to have the Spirit of God dwell in us. We’ll answer big questions like:
- What does belonging to Christ mean?
- How does the Spirit give us life?
- What does it look like to live a Spirit-filled life?
- How can we invite others to belong with Christ?

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I am a church group leader. What can I expect for check-in?
Each church group should plan to coordinate their own travel to and from The Vision Camp. Check-in takes place between 3-5 PM central on July 21st.
Upon check-in, church leaders will receive room assignments, lanyards with timed schedules, journals for all attendees, and all materials a leader will need to care for their youth! Our goal is for church leaders to settle in and enjoy their time with students.
What is housing like?
The Vision Camp is nestled on a hill with a range of cabins and rooms available to us. While at Vision, our group will be in an isolated area open just to Abide. Most rooms have twin-size beds, but we have some king-size beds available for leaders.
Rooming assignments will be confirmed with a designated church leader for each church in attendance. We will do our very best to accommodate any needs and requests.
What are meals like?
We will have a volunteer kitchen staff taking care of each meal for us at Abide. Churches will rotate clean up responsibilities for meal times.
Breakfast and lunch will have a rotation of easy-to-grab items, while dinner will always be a hot meal. We are able to accommodate most allergies as long as we are notified by July 1.
What are Spiritual Formation Small Groups?
Each full day of Abide, we will have offerings for smaller groups to engage in varying spiritual disciplines. Our hope is that we can provide students with tools that continue to form and shape their walk with Christ. This is one of our favorite offerings at Abide!
What are Group Recreation and Flex Activities?
At Abide, we value recreation and other fun activities like rock climbing and ropes courses. Shared experiences like these help students and leaders step outside their comfort zones, laugh together, and build trust and connection. This time strengthens the foundation for meaningful conversations, spiritual growth, and a stronger sense of belonging.
While an individual may choose not to participate, our leaders are coached on inviting everyone into the fun!
What is the Variety Show?
One of our Night Life offerings is our Variety Show. Students (or leaders!) are invited to share their gifts, talents, or creative acts. There is so much laughter and shared joy at our Variety Show, and it helps students feel seen and celebrated. It reminds us that God delights in the fullness of who we are!
Are electronics allowed at Abide?
We desire to be tech-free at Abide. While leaders will need reliable ways to communicate with other leaders and parents, we request that students do not bring phones, smart watches, iPads, laptops, or other forms of technology. (It’s a good idea to consider disposable or digital cameras to capture memories for students!)
Is there anything else not allowed at Abide?
Tobacco, drugs, vape pens, alcohol, fireworks, and weapons of any kind are not welcome and may result in student dismissal from camp.
What is the dress code?
We recommend that students follow church-specific dress codes. If churches do not have a dress code, we recommend:
- No clothing that reveals undergarments
- No clothing with questionable slogans or sayings
- A general mindfulness of dressing modestly and comfortably.
How are students kept safe at Abide?
All adults who attend Abide must pass a background check, be Ministry Safe trained, and attend a mandatory virtual meeting in July prior to camp.
Abide Student Camp leaders are CPR and First Aid certified. All leaders will also be provided with information for the nearest hospital, urgent care, and pharmacies. Luckily, we are less than 10 minutes from a main area of Huntsville.
