2024 Lenten Devotional Guide from Anglican Church of the Redeemer:
Lent Resources for Families from Canon Jessica Greiner
- Sacred Seasons, by Danielle Hitchen – Canon Jessica Greiner refers to this book as the most comprehensive and well-written book about the liturgical year that she owns. She loves it so much so that she has distributed a copy to every family with children in her parish!
- Little Way Chapel – this is a great guide for families with young children. It’s also available as a digital download, so you can use it right away. You can purchase the group license version to print and distribute as many as you need within your church.
- Lent Family Prayer Guide – by Louise Brooks. Daily prayers, readings, and weekly Visio cards help families prepare hearts and minds for this season of saying sorry to God, coming closer to Him, and giving things away to honor Him. These simple items may be gathered to create a sacred space: a white cloth, a purple ribbon, a candle, and a wooden cross.
- Journey Through Lent – Devotions for Households. This NGLI resource is about gathering the people in your home around a table center you’ll make for the long journey through Lent. Options for prayer, confession, song, time in God’s Story, and weekly activities are provided for this season of making room and drawing close.
- The Liturgical Home: Lent by Ashley Tumlin Wallace – this little book has everything you need to know about the Season of Lent: a bit of history, an explanation of liturgical traditions, recipes suitable for the fast, and weekly devotions.Liturgical Rhythms @ Home, inexpensive seasonal boxes to send home with families, providing touch points and activities that reflect what we do on Sundays. This is a small way to help families lean into and live the liturgical seasons at home!
Canon Jessica has modified these and uses them each liturgical season. If you would like more information on how to create these kits, please contact her here.
If you have Lenten resources you would like to share with us so we may add them to this list, please email them to Hannah Henderson.
