Dr. Susan Ridgell is a lay leader at Apostles Anglican in Knoxville, TN, and is facilitating the Lay Leaders Gathering on Friday afternoon of Synod 2017.

What do you enjoy most about the lay leaders gathering?

Finding that others throughout the diocese have similar experiences and challenges as our church; seeing the dedication to lay leadership, the commitment – it’s very inspiring; and hearing how others are doing ministry.

Why do you think it’s important that laity attend Synod?
It’s one of the best ways to experience how our local church is connected to a larger part of God’s family. The Friday night worship is so Spirit- filled – to worship God with others in our diocese is so amazing, you have to experience it! It is truly a blessing.

What is being planned for the lay leaders gathering this year?
Practical discussion of missions at the church, local community, and overseas levels; breakout sessions for small groups to explore challenges and successes in missions; and the opportunity to meet new folks and re-connect with friends across the diocese.

Registration is now open for Conference & Synod 2017: Mission Matters. Join us November 3-4 as we explore how local churches can be on mission in today’s world, reach out to our communities with the Gospel, worship, re-connect, learn, and discern together!

Visit the Conference & Synod 2017 site to learn more about speakers, workshops, lodging, and the weekend schedule.
